The earliest reliable reference connected with St Catherine’s Church in Lutsk is found in the colophon of the Lutsk Psalter. The manuscript was completed in Lutsk on 4 August 1384, and its scribe Ivan identified himself as a priest of St Catherine. It is a Psalter, not a complete Bible. The manuscript is now held by the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Florence as Acquisti e doni 360. A document of 1585 mentions a privilege for a masonry Church of St Catherine; a register of 1607 records that its former plot within Okolnyi Castle was already occupied by a private house. The date of the church's foundation, its precise modern location and the cause of its disappearance remain unknown.
